Replying to an email in Outlook and linking it to CompleteEmpire

An email created within Outlook can be linked to CompleteEmpire using the CREF code or tag. The tag  is a unique identifier that will automatically assign your communication to the relevant Contact Log chain in CompleteEmpire.

To link the email you will need to copy and paste the CREF tag into your Outlook email Subject Line.

Reply to a email in Outlook as normal but the subject line requires you to add a unique CREF tag.

In CompleteEmpire create a new contact log or use an existing contact log with a CREF in the subject line.

Find the CREF tag

  1. From the relevant Contact Log subject line identify the CREF Tag.
  2. Copy the CREF using the 'copy' icon, to the right of the CREF, to copy to clipboard. If manually copying include the square brackets [CREF#: caxemB7YRRPm] as in example above.

Note that the CREF tag that is added to the Contact Log subject line is in the format [CREF#: caxemB7YRRPm]

In Outlook

In Outlook open the email that you wish to reply to.

  1. Paste the copied CREF tag into the subject line and send as normal.

The email generated within Outlook and any subsequent emails with the same CREF in the subject line will be linked within CompleteEmpire once you have imported your emails. How to Import Emails from Outlook

Adding the CREF in the last email in a trail or chain will allow CompleteEmpire to automatically link and import those trailing emails this will be especially important for filing and compliance requirements.

Please take note:

  • Currently importing and synchronising emails between Outlook and CompleteEmpire is a manual process.
  • Emails imported into CompleteEmpire will not include attachments. They need to be added to the DMS manually.
