Inserting a web link into a message or email

To insert a link to a external web page, third party document, image etc.  use the [Insert Hyperlink] button which has a chain link icon and opens a window to allow you to enter or paste a hyperlink. The same tool can be used to edit the web link title (displayed name) and displayed Tool-Tip text.

Example of adding a external link within an email.

  1. Click the [Insert hyperlink] button whilst composing your message to open the highlighted window.
  2. Copy and past the web address from your browser.
  3. Add the text that you wish to display with within the message, this will replace the web address (URL).
  4. Add a ToolTip that will be displayed when the recipient hovers their mouse over the link.
  5. If you want the recipients browser to open in a new window tick {Open link in new Window}.
  6. Click [Insert] to return to your message.

Example using Contact Logs and changing the displayed name of a previously inserted document . The same process is applicable to Messages or Emails sent from within Complete Empire.

  1. To change the web link text and tool tip wording first place the mouse cursor to bring focus onto the link text you wish to change.
  2. Click [Insert hyperlink] to open the  Insert hyperlink window.

When creating a new contact log as an email in particular it is worthwhile editing the link text  to reflect a less sterile reference than the original document file name. It is also possible to edit the tool tip, the displayed text when the user hovers their mouse over the hyperlink. A before and after example is given above.

  1. Over type the original document file name text as required.
  2. Overwrite the original document file name text as an example 'Click here to open'.
  3. Click [Insert] to change and close the window
