The CompleteEmpire Email/Newsletter EDM system uses a built in tool to assist you in creating branding and constructing your electronic communications.

The EDM builder tool functionality is similar whether you are creating and working on a newsletter or an email campaign.  It is the built -in tool you can use to create your content you can import images, externally created code and use the element tools to build a professional looking newsletter or email. There are many options and this is article is designed to give a very basic overview. It to shows you where to start your journey of creativity. Note that the content for your email EDM or newsletter can also be created externally and used within your campaigns but this is a choice that must be made at the beginning of the process as it is not possible to later switch between the two, including cloned content.

The EDM Builder is a WYSIWYG HTML editor that allows you to edit the content in a form that looks the same when it is displayed or printed. The EDM builder can be used to create your email EDM or a Newsletter and is the tool you can use to create your content. You can import images, externally created code or use the element tools to build a professional email or newsletter.

The alternative is to use a Code editor where text is entered to create the HTML code  used to create a web page. It also allows the copy and paste of code from external text and HTML editors.

Brief overview of the EDM builder

EDM Builder.

  1. Work area or canvas. As elements are added various tools and elements are highlighted, revealed and options made available.
  2. Pre configured elements or snippets are accessible via the right hand pull out panel that can be dragged and dropped onto the work area or canvas.
  3. Action buttons include Auto Save Off /On; Save, View Code and Go Back. Always ensure the work is saved and use Go Back to return to the Newsletter grid view.
  1. Click the tab to open the Snippits panel with a selection of predefined blocks that can be dragged and dropped into the main work area.
  2. Selected the block group and select the pre configured template and drag and drop into the work area

Once the email/newsletter has been created use the panel buttons on the left

  1. [Save]  -  save your work and return to the work module that you launched the EDM Builder from.
  2. [View Code]  -  presents the HTML code for your newsletter.
  3. [Go Back]  - will return to the work module that you launched the EDM Builder from.

To reveal the various setting options click on the content block once.

  1. Quick icon tools  -  each content block can be moved, deleted edited to suit your requirements.
  2. Settings/ element tool  -  click the setting cog to open a new panel to the right. This offers a number of element options to change appearance, content attributes, format etc.  
  3. Formatting Toolbar  -  text formatting, image management and preferences tools.

  1. Expand the toolbar to show more formatting options by clicking the {More} 3 dots ellipsis icon.
  2. Click the {Preferences} spanner icon to open the preferences window to select a number of global options.

EDM Builder is a built in editor that has many features and tools to enable you to build your email/newsletter content including merge elements, pictures, links internal and external and many many more features. For further assistance in using the EDM Builder refer to your System Administrator.

A knowledge of using similar editors and a basic understanding of email EDM/newsletter creation and the use of HTML would be expected.
