The family group information view in the Summary view of the account provides a way to link all family members who have a relationship and links accounts that are of interest and allows full visibility of the direct family relationships. Doing this will allow you to see fee clusters in reports and there will be an opportunity to build additional functionality in the future.
The choice of account to base the family group link depends on the situation but in principle it should be the account the represents the most active account and the ultimate owner/controller of accounts so we can easily see where the account ultimately belongs.
Example the Smith family:
- John and Daisy Smith - couple - the main active account. Preferred contact details the ultimate owner/controller
- John Smith - father - maybe related entities such as a business, trust or SMSF
- Daisy Smith - mother - maybe related entities such as a business, trust or SMSF
- Victoria Smith - daughter
From the account Edit view
- Family Group - select from the drop down list the related party (in example Daisy Smith)
- Click [Save] to save your entry.
It is advantageous to complete the remaining family groups whilst you have the opportunity, so John Smith would be a member of the John and Daisy Smith account, Victoria Smith would likewise be a member of the John and Daisy Smith account.
You can only add existing accounts and entities that are already within the CRM database.
Go to each account and add them to the same family group ensuring that the primary account is added first, in this case Daisy Smith is a members of the John and Daisy Smith account.
