How to Create a Document Template for DocuSign

This article refers to the creation of a template that has DocuSign integration with one to four signatories added.

To be able to create templates in CompleteEmpire you will need to have Template Manager access and you will need to have a DocuSign account. Please refer to your CompleteEmpire system administrator.

Note that DocuSign currently is only enabled for documents used within CompleteEmpire Work Activity Modules

CompleteEmpire is a DocuSign reseller and subscribers who do not have a DocuSign account should contact CompleteEmpire support and the sign up process with DocuSign can be initiated. DocuSign is a third party service please refer to DocuSign for support.

Please refer to articles under DMS in the Knowledge Base for information of the creation of templates and their use within the CompleteEmpire ecosystem.

Create you document and save to the appropriate folder in the DMS. Refer to Adding documents to the Document Management System - DMS. Make the document a Template. Refer to  How to Create a Document Template.

Enable DocuSign properties for the selected template.

  1. Click {DMS} in he Main Menu and select the appropriate folder.
  2. Tick {Template} to filter your view.
  3. Right click the template document that you wish to use with DocuSign and click on Properties to open the Properties panel.
  1. In the Properties Panel navigate to the {eSignature Max Signers} drop down list. Select up to 4 individual signatories for the current document.  Please note you will only see this choice if you have a DocuSign linked Social Account and have Template Manager rights.
  2. Click [Save]

Add the DocuSign merge fields to your template

  1. Right click the template and click {Edit Template} to open the template editor window in your browser.
  1. To add the DocuSign merge field select eSign.
  2. Select the signatory and add to the document as you would any other merge field  

If you have created your original document in Word prior to adding to the DMS  and have identified the signatory fields, as is customary, using a coloured highlight within the document please ensure that this is removed during the above process otherwise it will appear in the final document.

The merged fields can be found using the [Field Navigation] button. See below

  1. Click {File} > {Save and Return} to return to the DMS and close the template editor. You have now created the DocuSign template.
